Yatharth Hospitals Organized '#ChaltaRaheMeraDil' Walkathon Across Four Cities On World Heart Day

Yatharth Super Speciality Hospitals marked this World Heart Day by organizing the '#ChaltaRaheMeraDil' walkathon across four cities to raise awareness about heart health and the increasing risk of cardiovascular diseases in India.

Walkathon at Mathura was flagged off by Chief Guest Shri Shailendra Kumar Singh (IAS), District Magistrate, alongside Shri Shailesh Kumar Pandey (IPS) and Dr. Ajay Kumar. In Aligarh, Chief Guest Shri Vishakh G Iyer (IAS), District Magistrate, and Shri Mrigank Shekhar Pathak (IPS) led the event. In Bulandshahr, Shri Shlok Kumar (IPS) and Shri Kuldeep Meena (IAS) inaugurated the walkathon. Agra’s walkathon was flagged off by Chief Guest Shri Ravinder Gaur, IPS, and Smt. Ritu Maheshwari (IAS), Divisional Commissioner.

An impressive turnout of over 6000 participants across 4 cities, including local residential societies and senior citizens, joined the walkathon. All attendees received complimentary T-shirts and refreshments, and the winners had the opportunity to claim attractive prizes, including bicycles. Additionally, every participant received free coupons for cardiac health checkups.

The walkathon was followed by a Zumba session and an enlightening interactive session on 'Cardiac Health' was conducted by a panel of esteemed doctors from the hospital. The discussion emphasized the critical role of regular physical activity, coupled with a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, in preventing heart-related illnesses.

Dr. Kapil Tyagi, Managing Director Yatharth Group Of Hospitals said “cardiovascular diseases are on the rise, primarily due to poor and sedentary lifestyles, and it’s concerning that many Indians still remain unaware of the early symptoms of a heart attack. Public events like this walkathon are crucial in creating awareness and educating people on how to prevent and survive heart attacks. Heart problems are no longer limited to the elderly; we’re seeing an increasing number of cases among the middle-aged due to unhealthy lifestyle choices such as smoking, alcohol consumption, poor dietary habits, and lack of physical activity. While we may not have control over inherited conditions, adopting a healthy diet, engaging in regular exercise, and making conscious lifestyle changes can make a significant difference in maintaining heart health.”

Reports indicate that over 2.8 million people in India are at risk of various forms of heart disease, with a significant number unaware of how their neglectful habits are jeopardizing their cardiac health. The simplest way to prevent heart diseases is to steer clear of sedentary lifestyles and dietary choices that promote obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
