Yatharth Hospital Treats Nine Year Old Accident Victim Free Of Cost

A nine year old child Yash was admitted to Yatharth Wellness and Trauma Center, Greater Noida after a road accident in a very critical state with the help of Greater Noida Police, Greater Noida Authority and Farmers Union. He was having active seizures and was bleeding profusely from the mouth and head. So, he was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital.

The child was immediately attended by a team of emergency doctors headed by Pediatric Intensivist Dr. Kushagra Gupta. The child was intubated and was placed on mechanical ventilator along with supportive treatments.  The child remained on ventilator for two days. CT scan revealed fracture of the jaw on both sides, with depressed fracture of left side of skull.  Seeing the condition of the patient, a team of surgeons was formed, which included Neurosurgeons Dr. Puneet Rana and Dr. Ankit, and Maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Saurabh Kumar Rawat. The child was immediately taken for brain and facial surgery.

“Performing both surgeries simultaneously was challenging, but necessary to save the child's life”, said Dr Puneet Rana, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery, Yatharth Hospital, Greater Noida while commenting on the case.

Post surgery, the child was shifted to the Pediatric ICU, where he was attended by the pediatric team led by Dr. Kushagra Gupta.  “The child was in ICU for 5 days where he had uneventful recovery, became fully conscious and started taking food orally. He was fit to be discharged under the care of his parents” said Dr Kushagra Gupta, Consultant - Paediatrics & Neonatology, Yatharth Hospital, Greater Noida.

“The first 24 hours are critical for the case of road accident patients and often, it takes a long time to contact the victim's family members and for them to reach the hospital.  In this case also there was no family member with the child. Looking at the seriousness of the situation, we decided to start the treatment immediately to save the life of the patient. The child was successfully operated and was provided the best possible care in Pediatric ICU. The treatment worth around 7 lakhs was done free of cost for the patient”,  said Dr Sunil Balyan, Assistant Medical Director, Yatharth Wellness & Trauma Centre, Greater Noida.
“At Yatharth Hospital, we have always given priority to the patient's treatment. Our main aim has always been to serve the people”, he added.
