In one case, a 90-year-old frail female patient with severe aortic stenosis and multiple comorbidities, including a painful femur fracture and impaired kidney function, was brought in with worsening breathlessness and chest pain. In another milestone, the team treated a 79-year-old male patient who had undergone surgical aortic valve replacement a decade ago. He presented with severe heart failure symptoms due to a failing bioprosthetic valve. Instead of subjecting him to the risks of repeat open-heart surgery, the doctors opted for a transcatheter valve-in-valve replacement. The procedure involved implanting a balloon-expandable Myval (Meril) valve after carefully fracturing the old prosthetic valve, ensuring the new valve could expand fully and restore normal heart function. The patient’s recovery was smooth, and he was discharged without complications, resuming his normal routine within weeks.
