Dr. Arunachalam

Profile:

Dr Arunachalam is a Consultant Pulmonologist with 10 years of experience in the field of pulmonary and sleep disorders. He has undergone dedicated training and acquired the skills to perform basic and advanced bronchoscopy, which includes flexible bronchoscopy, transbronchial lung biopsy, endobronchial biopsy, endobronchial ultrasound (linear & radial), pleuroscopy, foreign body extraction and other interventions such as airway stent placements, electrocautery and dilation. He has conducted more than 1000 interventional procedures. He has undergone extensive training in the management of sleep disorders, such as level 1 polysomnography and other levels of sleep study, positive airway pressure therapy in OSA, COPD, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, neuromuscular disorders, insomnia, narcolepsy and other sleep-disordered breathing disorders, with PAP titration from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi. He has real time experiences and learned the skill in managing various spectrum of tubercular disorders from drug sensitive tuberculosis to Non-tuberculosis mycobacterial infection at National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory diseases, Delhi. He also has vast experience in management of COVID 19 patients and has been associated with lung transplantation programme at AIIMS, Delhi. He is also trained in other ICU-related procedures such as critical care ultrasound and echocardiography, percutaneous tracheostomy, central venous cannulation, arterial lines, advanced airways, advanced mechanical ventilatory strategies including APRV, HFOV prone ventilation, single lung ventilation strategies and ECMO. He is also skilled in the use of non-invasive ventilator strategies and high-flow nasal cannula.

He is an active member of various national and international societies. He has been an expert member in the development of Indian national guidelines for nebulization, endobronchial ultrasound and medical thoracoscopy. He is well versed with recent advances in his field and has many national and international publications to his credit.
